Acropolis of Athens

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Athens Acropolis is undoubtedly one of the most amazing places in the world and a must-see for any tourist visiting Athens.

With this ticket, you can explore the hill of the Acropolis at your leisure and see its various temples up close, the most famous of which is the Parthenon. Did you know that it was built between 447 and 432 BC? This monument is considered by many to be the best symbol of the architectural beauty of Ancient Greece.

During your visit, you'll also be able to see other sites of great historical importance, such as the Erechtheion and the Temple of Athena Nike. What's more, from the hill of the Acropolis, which is 156 metres (511 feet) high, you'll enjoy incredible views of the Greek capital and the Mediterranean. You'll take loads of great photos!

Archaeological sites in Athens

The ticket also includes access to the following archaeological sites in Athens:

  • Ancient Agora of Athens: This was the centre of social, political and commercial life in ancient Athens. Elections, public debates and religious celebrations were organised in this epicentre of democracy. Its Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best preserved in antiquity, stands out in particular.
  • Roman Agora: It was built between 19 and 11 BC on the orders of Emperor Augustus. Several columns and the emblematic Tower of the Winds, which was used as a sundial, are still standing.
  • Hadrian's Library: A reading room, convention centre and bibliographic archive built in the year 132, in the time of the emperor after whom it is named. Today it continues to amaze visitors with its columns up to 8 metres (26 feet) high. Curiously, the library was forgotten for hundreds of years due to the construction of churches on its grounds. It wasn't until the excavations of 1885 that the ruins were discovered.
  • Olympion: The Temple of Olympian Zeus took almost 7 centuries to build and, although only a small portion of this monument remains, it once had 104 columns and was over 15 metres (50 feet) high.
  • Kerameikos: The former pottery workshops of Athens were located in this area. However, the construction of a defensive wall in 478 BC divided this area in two. From then on, one side was dedicated to the burial of Athenians, giving rise to the largest necropolis in Greece.
  • Lyceum of Aristotle: These ruins are the headquarters of the Peripatetic school, founded by one of the most important philosophers of all time, Aristotle. Undoubtedly,  it's a place of vital importance in history.
