Opening hours in Athens
Most stores, landmarks and museums have wide opening hours and the merchants have quite a lot of flexibility to open and close when they wish.
Unlike numerous European destinations, it is very easy to combine sightseeing with shopping in Athens.
Store opening hours
Large international clothing brands and smaller stores on the city’s main arteries open Monday to Friday from 9am till 9pm. On Saturdays, the shops close at 6pm.
Usually, the smaller and more traditional shops in Athens close at lunch time, from approximately 2:30pm to 5:30pm.
On Sundays, shops are normally closed in Athens, except for the souvenir stores like Adrianou, Mitropoleos, Pandrosou, among others.
Museums
Most museums in Athens have different opening hours depending on the season and day of the week. Generally, they open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:30am to 3pm.
On Mondays, nearly museums remain closed, although the most-visited are open all week long.
